What is Electrolysis?
Electrolysis is a proven safe method of permanent hair removal that has been around since 1875. Electrolysis uses state of the art technology, which uses a minute amount of current and heat that is gently applied to the base of the hair follicle. This process destroys the hair growth tissue. Therefore, the regenerative ability of the hair follicle is permanently eliminated. Can also permanently destroy blonde, white, red, and even the finest of hairs. That's something lasers can’t do!
What happens during Electrolysis?
An Electrologist inserts a very fine, sterile, disposable probe into the natural opening of the hair follicle alongside the hair shaft. A minute amount of current and heat is then applied to destroy the hair growth cells.
How should I prepare for my first visit?
Please drink plenty of water or gatorade/powerade 30 to 45 min prior to your appointment time. Also, clients with a low pain threshold may take a non aspirin product an hour before your appointment. Make sure to shave or clip the area 2 to 3 days before. Please NO TWEEZING. The details of the significance of hydration, shaving, etc., will be discussed during your free consultation with your Electrologist.
Are the treatments painful?
The insertion of the probe should be painless. When the pulse of energy is emitted, slight discomfort may be felt. Many clients relate it to the feeling of plucking a hair.
What should I expect after my hair removal session?
You should expect some redness and possibly a tiny amount of swelling that usually subsides within the hour or less. You will be given an ice pack or an after treatment topical if needed. It is important to keep the area clean for 24 hours after your treatment and follow the after care instructions provided by your Electrologist.
